Succesful Viral Advertising Themes – Twitter

Twitter has been hot topic for months now. So it’s should be no surprise that a video about it, or mocking it would become viral.
A video recently got my attention, and it’s an animation about Twitter. Although it was discovered on March, it’s rise has only happened this month and more and more in the last few days, as you can seen in the graph below:

If you think further about it, there are other factors that should contribute to things twitter-themed to go viral:
- the user base (at least initially) were mainly people connected to the tech industry and most were (and still) are early adopters, which are usually great power seeders i.e. they are more likely to spread things they like to friends;
- the user base is very big (I think the last numbers I heard were north of 25 million users), which makes for potencially 25 million viewers: this is because people would like to see a video that has as a subject something they’re using – call it narcisism of our part.
- one of the uses of the service – Twitter – is to share stuff: information about what are we doind, sure, but also links for other people to read, watch etc.
So with this many reasons, is there a surprise that a video with Twitter as the mainy topic has become viral?
Well, here is the video I was talking about earlier:
But this is not the only video about Twitter in the last months to go viral. Some time ago, the guys at College Humor put out a video that also became viral, with 850 thousand views now. The same principles or reasons talked about above apply. If you don’t know about it, check it out:
