<p>And we&#8217;re back with one of those cool, really fun videos that shows you something you (probably) never seen before.</p>
<p>Tarp Surfing, as you&#8217;ll see, involves simulating a wave with a tarp, while skateboarding. And this video is shot as if it really was surfing, and images that come out of it are great looking!</p>
<p>With 600.000 views in just 4 days, this video from Ruse Entertainment is fast becoming a viral hit.</p>

To promoter their album, obviously.</p>
<p>It has an impressive count of 604.000 views on Youtube in a little over 24 hours. And this is good for both the band and the brand that makes this sleeved blankets.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not the first time Weezer experimented with viral video: in 2008 they had a huge one with 20 million views on Youtube, that was  just filled with viral video memes/characters &#8211; &#8220;Porks and Beans&#8221;. Unfortunately it doens&#8217;t allow us to embed there, so I&#8217;ll post a link at the bottom of this post.</p>
<p>But now, get ready for the Snuggie:</p>

<p>As a few weeks have passed since, we&#8217;ll post now some more posters that have come out.</p>
<p>We start with one by artist Eric Tan, titled &#8220;The Crash&#8221;. These are limited editions of 300 copies, and this one is soldout.</p>
<p style="text-align: center; "><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-867" title="poster1" src="http://www.acurvaviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/poster11.gif" alt="poster1" width="346" height="439" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Another one, from Leia Bell, called &#8220;The Love Triangle&#8221;.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Next we have Jason Munn with &#8220;The 4-toed statue&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-871" title="poster1 (2)" src="http://www.acurvaviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/poster1-2.gif" alt="poster1 (2)" width="346" height="439" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Ken Taylor did this beautiful painting of &#8220;The Smoke Monster&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-872" title="poster1 (3)" src="http://www.acurvaviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/poster1-3.gif" alt="poster1 (3)" width="346" height="439" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">End to end this series (for now), we have Kevin Tong with the poster &#8220;The Hatch&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-873" title="poster1 (4)" src="http://www.acurvaviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/poster1-4.gif" alt="poster1 (4)" width="346" height="439" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">There are still a few left who will come out in the next few weeks, but anyway the show&#8217;s 6th season is getting closer!</p>

<p>But what you get when you mix that two together? You get the following video, which is barely a week old and has gathered more than 1.1 million views and 4358 commentaries on Youtube.</p>
<p><object width="425" height="344" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/qOCO3qsQMTg&amp;hl=pt-br&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qOCO3qsQMTg&amp;hl=pt-br&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>CNN is reporting the video was created by a german tv station RTL has an &#8220;<a href="http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/31/michael.jackson.hoax/index.html?iref=newssearch">experiment</a>&#8220;, to show how it is easy to spread rumors online.</p>
<p>It also reports that another video showing inconsistencies also got 329 thousand views.</p>
<p>Well, this proves (again) that Michael Jackson still is a hot viral property and that hoaxes also have a greater chance of becoming viral.</p>

A good hoax well done has the viewer thinking <a class="zem_slink" title="World Taekwondo Federation" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Taekwondo_Federation">WTF</a> along with is this a hoax or not. This stimulates debate and consequently positive engagement with your audience and brand, (as long as you are being careful to keep within <a href="http://womma.org/ethics/" target="_blank">ethical</a> practise). I‘ve put together a list of 5 of my favourites. Feel free to add links to yours in the comments</p>
<p><a class="zem_slink" title="Light-emitting diode" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode">LED</a> SHEEP &#8211; Gained well over 8mil views on one YouTube upload. How many in total I don&#8217;t know but either way it was an enormous success</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/D2FX9rviEhw&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/D2FX9rviEhw&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>BIKE HERO &#8211; Promotion of guitar hero. Over 2mil views today on YouTube alone</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/NlMYWuGUZlM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NlMYWuGUZlM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>POPCORN WITH MOBILE &#8211; This turned out to be a hoax. The original is hard to find and is it was removed from many sites but there are now many copy cat virals out there. Originally I believe it was an ad for bluetooth head kits</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/1375244/these_guys_make_popcorn_with_their_cell_phones_hoax.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="name" value="Metacafe_1375244" /><param name="src" value="http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/1375244/these_guys_make_popcorn_with_their_cell_phones_hoax.swf" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object><br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><a href="http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1375244/these_guys_make_popcorn_with_their_cell_phones_hoax/">These Guys Make Popcorn with Their Cell Phones (Hoax)</a> &#8211; <a href="http://www.metacafe.com/">Funny bloopers R us</a></span></p>
<p>OFFICE GUY GOES CRAZY -This turned out to be a fake, an ad in the end for a <a class="zem_slink" title="Universal Studios" rel="homepage" href="http://www.universalstudios.com/">universal pictures</a> film. Unfortunately (good as it was) it broke all the rules of producing ethical virals i.e. it is never made clear this is an ad. A shame seeing as it was number one of all the viral charts for so long</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/XFnp26xfMcc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XFnp26xfMcc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>URBAN ATTACK &#8211; In a similar vain to the LED <a class="zem_slink" title="Sheep" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheep">sheep</a>. Although obviously staged it has racked up over 2mil views on YouTube alone. Good stuff<br />
<object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/0L7DTMKekoU&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0L7DTMKekoU&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>BRUNO &#8211; Currently spreading like wild fire &#8211; Turns out this is an ad for <a href="http://www.mach-es-machbar.de/">Microsoft</a> but great all the same, (thanks to <a href="http://www.acurvaviral.com/2009/08/06/avalie-este-viral-edicao-o-grande-salto/" target="_blank">acurvaviral.com</a> for the heads up)</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/lkwh4ZaxHIA&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lkwh4ZaxHIA&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>UPDATE &#8211; Ok so these are probably my favourites. I missed a whopper</p>
<p><object width="320" height="265" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/JR_naKxLEPc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JR_naKxLEPc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>

<p>Quote from an amazoin review &#8211; &#8220;Is this a book about marketing? Or about customer relations? Or about sales? Or about organizational growth? And now the correct answer: all of the above.&#8221;</p>
<p>I love this book. They have gathered together a whole buch of info from a huge variety of sources including <a class="zem_slink" title="Guy Kawasaki" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Kawasaki">Guy Kawasaki</a> (who wrote the Foreword) as well as Emanuel Rosen, <a class="zem_slink" title="Richard Dawkins" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1468026/">Richard Dawkins</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Seth Godin" rel="homepage" href="http://www.sethgodin.com/">Seth Godin</a>, Joseph Pine and James Gilmore, Richard Cross and Janet Smith, and <a class="zem_slink" title="Philip Kotler" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Kotler">Philip Kotler</a>.</p>
<p>However, McConnell and Huba have done an awesome job formulating and then presenting their own cohesive, comprehensive, and cost-effective strategies by which to create &#8220;customer evangelists&#8221; who (in effect) become &#8220;a volunteer sales force.&#8221;</p>
<p>Just within the book&#8217;s first five (of 16) chapters, McConnell and Huba answer questions such as these:</p>
<p>1. What are the attributes of customer evangelists?</p>
<p>2. What are the six tenets of customer evangelism?</p>
<p>3. Why are customer evangelists the ultimate salespeople&#8221;?</p>
<p>4. How to begin the process of creating customer evangelists?</p>
<p>5. What is &#8220;Customer Plus-Delta&#8221; and what are its &#8220;ten golden rules&#8221;?</p>
<p>6. What must any organization do to achieve its own Customer Plus-Delta?</p>
<p>7. What are the five key lessons to be learned from Napster?</p>
<p>8. What are the five myths and realities about buzz?</p>
<p>9. Why is a meme so important?</p>
<p>10. Which helpful hints will help any organization to create its own meme?</p>

Check out his <a class="zem_slink" title="Wikipedia" rel="homepage" href="http://www.wikipedia.org/">Wikipedia</a> entry this guy is seriously not afraid to take on the big issues.</p>
<p>Any ay I like his fairly straight forward info on Viral, (“viral marketing is when on customer sells another without you having to do anything”) and how it worked for <a class="zem_slink" title="PayPal" rel="homepage" href="http://paypal.com">PayPal</a>. I had ever really though of PayPal as a viral example but effectively it is even better than Hotmail as an example of real good viral marketing.</p>
<p>I sign up for PayPal and send you cash. You have to sign up for PayPal to receive that cash. Now you are a user and you start sending cash. I guess Ebay must have aided the need for PayPal but just brilliant. They are the virals I love. Those that compel you bring in new users, viewers etc.</p>
<p>The boys over at Freaky robot did something not so long ago. Essentially paper scissor stones but with a soccer / football twist. You want to play great but you must invite your friends in order to have an opponent or the whole game doesn’t work!!</p>
<p>Anyway hear Elon speaking himself</p>
